Abstract

The study focuses on identifying and evaluating the factors influencing residents’ intention to return electronic waste (small-sized IT devices) within the reverse logistics chain in Da Nang, in the context of the rapid increase in electronic waste and the limitations of the formal collection system. The research model was developed based on the integration of the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) and the Attitude-Behavior-Context (A-B-C) Theory, while incorporating additional factors such as moral norms, consumer knowledge, and government initiatives to enhance the explanatory power of e-waste return behavior. The study employed a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative research to develop and refine measurement scales with quantitative research through a survey of 228 users in Da Nang. The data were analyzed using SPSS 27.0 and SmartPLS 4.0 software. The findings indicate that attitude (AT), subjective norms (SN), perceived behavioral control (PBC), moral norms (MN), consumer knowledge (CK), and government initiatives (GI) all have significant positive effects on the intention to return e-waste, along with notable differences across demographic groups. Based on these findings, the study proposes several managerial implications and practical recommendations to encourage community participation in the reverse logistics system for electronic waste at the local level.
