Main Article Content
Abstract
Nowadays, the demand for cosmetics of natural origin has increased significantly. Vietnam is a country that grows a lot of turmeric (Curcuma longa L.) - a medicinal herb whose main ingredient is curcumin with great potential in the field of healthcare. Therefore, the topic "Research on the preparation of curcumin 95% and vitamin E cream" was carried out to create a product with natural ingredients, at a reasonable price, for anti-inflammatory, antibacterial treatment and scar healing support. The main objective of this study is to develop a formula and preparation process for a cream containing curcumin 95% and vitamin E on a laboratory scale, evaluate the quality of the product and the stability of the preparation process. The results established a preparation process using the direct emulsification method, with the temperature and emulsification speed of 65 – 75 oC and 150 - 200 rpm, respectively. The formula was determined with 1% curcumin (95%), 1% vitamin E and other excipients. The preparation achieved the required quality indicators such as sensory properties, thinness (1017.88 mm2), homogeneity, pH (4,5 - 6,5), physical stability and active ingredient release (3.99%).
