Abstract

In the context of globalization, learning foreign languages has become increasingly important for international integration. In particular, Chinese has attracted growing attention due to China’s s ignificant economic and commercial influence worldwide. In the process of learning Chinese, listening comprehension is considered one of the fundamental skills, supporting the development of other language skills and enhancing learners’ communicative competence. However, many students experience anxiety when learning listening skills, which may negatively affect their ability to process auditory information and their academic performance. This study aims to investigate the current situation of listening anxiety among students in the Listening 3 course at Dong A University, as well as to analyze the factors contributing to this anxiety in learning Chinese listening skills. The research employs a questionnaire survey administered to students majoring in Chinese Language and analyzes the collected data to determine the level of anxiety and the factors influencing it during the listening learning process. The findings indicate that students often encounter difficulties when listening to conversations spoken at a fast speed, when dealing with limited vocabulary, and when lacking confidence in processing listening information. In addition, learning methods and the classroom environment also have a certain impact on students’ anxiety levels. Based on these findings, the study proposes several solutions to help reduce listening anxiety and improve the effectiveness of listening skill learning for students.
