Abstract

This study was conducted to investigate the level of awareness of second-year Korean Studies students at Dong A University regarding historical figures depicted on South Korean banknotes. Research data were collected through an online questionnaire and face-to-face interview. The results indicate that most students show interest in Korean culture and history. However, their specific knowledge of the historical figures appearing on Korean currency remains limited. Many students are able to recognize the images of these figures but do not clearly understand their historical significance or their contributions to Korean society. Based on the survey findings, the study proposes several measures to enhance students’ awareness of the historical figures featured on South Korean banknotes. These include strengthening the use of digital media platforms, developing educational content that connects the images on banknotes with their historical meanings, and organizing interactive learning and experiential activities related to this topic.
