THE IMPACT OF COMMUNITY-BASED TOURISM ON THE LIVELIHOODS OF THE CO TU PEOPLE IN HAI VAN WARD, DA NANG CITY
Main Article Content
Abstract
This study evaluates the impact of community-based tourism on the five livelihood capitals of the Co Tu people in Hai Van Ward, Da Nang. It aims to fill the research gap regarding economic changes in suburban areas. Based on the Sustainable Livelihoods Framework (DFID), the research surveyed 155 households in Ta Lang and Gian Bi villages and analyzed the data using SPSS software. The results show that the tourism model brings clear positive effects. Financial, physical, natural, and social capitals all improved (with an overall Cronbach's Alpha of 0.869), helping most residents stabilize their income at 5 to 15 million VND per month. However, the biggest challenge lies in human capital: 51.6% of the workforce remains in traditional agriculture and forestry due to a lack of professional skills. Based on these findings, the study proposes key management solutions: prioritizing budgets for education and training, diversifying local products, and creating a fair benefit-sharing system through a local management board to ensure sustainable livelihoods.
