Abstract

This research focuses on leveraging the traditional weaving values of the Co Tu ethnic community in Hoa Bac (now Hai Van Ward, Da Nang) within the framework of sustainable community-based tourism development. The central issue identified is the decline of this traditional craft caused by barriers in the successor workforce, low economic efficiency, and a lack of integration within the tourism supply chain. The primary objective is to establish the cultural and economic value system of weaving, thereby proposing heritage conservation solutions integrated with livelihood improvements based on theoretical frameworks of "authenticity" and the tourism value chain. By combining qualitative and quantitative research methods—including field surveys in Ta Lang and Gian Bi villages and sociological investigations with representative sample sizes—the research clarifies the paradox between market demand and local supply capacity. Results indicate that while weaving has significant potential as a unique tourism product, it faces obstacles regarding product design and psychological barriers in service communication among local residents. The study concludes that establishing a "Living Heritage Tourism" model through centralized experiential spaces at the Gươl House is a strategic solution. This model not only maintains folk knowledge of natural materials but also creates sustainable income, transforming heritage into a driver for harmonious and effective economic development in the mountainous regions of Da Nang.
