Abstract

Objective: This study aimed to assess clinical practice self-confidence and professional attitude, and to identify associated factors among nursing students at Dong A University in 2026. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 427 full-time nursing students at Dong A University. Results: Students’ self-confidence was at a high level (3.47 ± 0.78), with 54.6% achieving a high level. Overall, professional attitude was positive, with 72.6% of students showing a positive attitude (147.50 ± 24.30). Self-confidence was significantly associated with academic year, age, number of clinical practice modules, and clinical support during training, while professional attitude was associated with academic performance and place of residence (p < 0.05). Notably, there was a moderate positive correlation between self-confidence and professional attitude (r = 0.346; p < 0.001). Conclusion: Nursing students demonstrated relatively positive self-confidence and professional attitude; however, a proportion still remained at lower levels. Strengthening supervised clinical practice, using clinical logbooks, and improving instructor support are key strategies to enhance students’ self-confidence and professional attitude.
