Hát bội trong lễ hội cộng đồng ở vùng duyên hải Nam Trung Bộ: Sắc thái văn hóa và quá trình thích ứng

Abstract

Abstract: The art of Hát bội represents a distinctive form of theatrical art that embodies the unique cultural imprint of the South-Central Coastal region of Vietnam. Having endured numerous historical vicissitudes, the survival and continued development of Hát bội stand as testament to the values, norms, and aesthetic sensibilities distilled and forged through the spiritual life, regional dialects, cultural tastes, and behavioral customs of the South-Central Coastal communities. Drawing on ethnographic fieldwork - comprising in-depth interviews and participant observation - conducted across selected localities including Da Nang, Gia Lai, Khanh Hoa, and Lam Dong in 2025, this study examines the cultural nuances and adaptive dimensions of Hát bội within community festival contexts in the South-Central Coastal region. The findings provide a basis for understanding Hát bội in terms of its unity and diversity, as well as the dynamic processes through which its artistic values have evolved and been integrated into contemporary life, thereby offering a referential perspective for ongoing efforts to safeguard and preserve this traditional theatrical heritage.
