Main Article Content
Abstract
Vietnam has emerged as a prominent player in the global manufacturing landscape and improved its ranking in the global industrial competitiveness. Vietnam has also been successful in maintaining an increasing contribution of manufacturing in economic development. This presentation analyzes the country's strategic initiatives, and policy frameworks that have catalyzed this growth, with a focus on two key industrial sectors, electronics and automotive. The electronics industry, underscored by significant foreign direct investment (FDI) from multinational corporations, has established Vietnam as a major production hub for global tech giants. Key factors contributing to this transformation include the country's investment incentives, competitive production costs, and comprehensive trade agreements that enhance market access. Simultaneously, the automotive sector is undergoing a significant transition, driven by both local enterprises and international partnerships. Government policies aimed at promoting domestic manufacturing capabilities and supporting industries have paved the way for enhanced local production of vehicles and components. The paper delves into the challenges faced in manufacturing in general and these two sectors in particular, such as supply chain vulnerabilities, supporting industries development, and the need for technological upgrades, while highlighting opportunities for future growth. By examining statistical trends, this presentation provides a comprehensive overview of the ongoing developments in Vietnam's manufacturing sector, offering insights into its potential trajectory in the global market. Ultimately, the presentation underscores the importance of robust infrastructure, linkages between FDI and local supporting industry, and regulatory support in positioning Vietnam as an essential hub in the electronic and automotive industries.
